ITV reaches the homes of three-quarters of the UK population.
This is a privilege, and one that brings with it significant responsibility as well as opportunity which we take seriously - often going beyond performance targets set by regulatory bodies such as Ofcom, as can be seen in our annual performance review summary.
Our Operating responsibly section gives more information on our Responsible broadcasting fundamentals; however it is the power of our brand, mass audience appeal and our regional presence combined, which allows us to do so much more than what is expected from us from a regulatory point of view.
Our aim is to use our strength as a national and regional broadcaster to engage, inspire and empower our viewers to make a positive difference for our society.
In 2012, we raised over £10.5 million for charitable causes with the help of our viewers. But it's not all about the money. We recognise that many of our viewers are not able to donate financially, and therefore we offer a rounded set of campaigns across the year to ensure that all our audiences can participate in some way to help make a difference.
Our inclusive approach has resulted in teams across ITV working collaboratively on-air and behind the scenes to maximize the scale and impact of our campaigns and develop ways we can encourage more action as well as just giving.
